Automated External Defibrillators

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone.  It claims the lives of nearly 250,000 individuals in the United States each year.  When sudden cardiac arrest strikes; seconds mean the difference between life and death.  With each minute of elapsed time, the survival rate diminishes by ten percent.

Thanks to the easy-to-use, portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and training from the American Red Cross, ordinary people can be lifesavers.  By delivering an electric shock to the heart, an AED can restore a heart's normal rhythm.  Immediate use of an AED, in conjunction with CPR, can save a life.

The American Red Cross knows how to save lives.  We have been a leader in the health and safety industry for more than 90 years.  The Black Hills Area Chapter has approved two AED manufacturers and their products and is available to provide unbiased information to select an appropriate device, train staff and assist in replacing parts.

If you are interested in learning more about developing an AED program, purchasing an AED or scheduling an appointment to see a demonstration of an AED; please contact Richard Smith at (605) 342-4010 or rsmitharc@rushmore.com.
