Welcome!

Since 1917, the American Red Cross-Black Hills Area Chapter has assisted families and individuals recovering from home fires, flooding, tornadoes, wildland fires and other disasters.

Our Chapter serves 19 counties in western South Dakota covering 38,000 square miles. We serve four of the top ten lowest income per capita counties in the United States.  We cover rough, remote terrain to help our communities through disasters.  Over 80 percent of the families served are below the federal poverty guidelines.

Our services focus on three major areas: Disaster Response, Health & Safety/Preparedness and Services to Armed Forces.  Please contact us if you would like more information on the services we provide.
