tornadoes, floods and other community disasters through educational
programs and exhibits.
Helped more than 127 families get back on their feet after
fire destroyed their homes.
Increased the chance for surviving a fire by installing more
than 600 smoke detectors in homes.
Provided crisis assistance with tracing, emergency messages,
family reunification, counseling, information and referrals
for more than 1,987 families, including members of the military
and those separated by international conflict.
Introduced new daily reassurance
program in senior high rises – 13,020
reassurance checks made in first 3 months of program.
Helped stop the spread of HIV/AIDS
through prevention education for nearly 3,647 people. Provided
informal luncheons for 200 people released from detention
facilities to help build self esteem and provide skills and
knowledge to help them return to the community.
Helped more than 3,600 people sharpen their job-related health
and safety skills through workplace training.
Increased safety and well-being
for children by providing Health & Safety training to
308 child care providers.
Trained more than 250 Boy Scouts how to prevent, prepare
for and respond to health and safety emergencies relevant to
their communities.
Provided specialized training to 45 volunteers to respond
to disasters in our community and help meet the needs of victims
of disasters.
Taught 1,350 preschool and elementary children how to stop
the spread of disease through safe hand washing practices.
Reduced the potential of accidental death by teaching over
750 children safe swimming practices.
Taught 3,000 children and youth how to be safe at home alone,
how to respond to emergencies and what to do in bad weather
Provided youth leadership opportunities for 75 youth supporting
the community through various service projects.
In our mission to save lives, increased
our push for widespread training in the use of AEDs – easy-to-use
devices that shock the hearts of sudden cardiac arrest victims
and greatly increase their chances of survival.

of more than 250 Red Cross volunteers who benefit the community
through their support of vital programs and services
